The story is told and written in a bilingual format.
The purpose is to also act as a language lesson.

Netoli Baltijos Juros gyveno pilkas katinas ir auskine žuvis.
Not far from the Baltic Sea lived a gray cat and a goldfish.

Katinas buvo namu princas
The cat was the prince of the house.

Jis valde namus labai gerai, neviena pele buva matyta.
He ruled the house very well, not one mouse could be seen.

Auksine žuvis buva namu žiburys
The goldfish was the home's show piece.

Visa diena auksine žuvis sau plauke ir spindulai atsimuše nuo lubu.
All day long the goldfish swam around and beams of light reflected from the ceiling.

Katinas ir žuvis nebuvo draugai nes jie nesusikalbejo.
The cat and the fish weren't friends because they could not comunicate.

Viena diena šeimininkas išejo i kaima is užmiršo palikti katinui valgi.
One day the owner went out to the village and forgot to leave out the cat food.

Po laiko katinas labai išalko.
After a while the cat got very hungry.

Jis ejo aplink nama ir vis mate ausksine žuvi ant stalo.
He walked around the house and constantly saw the goldfish on the table.

Staiga noras atsirado.
Then an urge came over him.

Auksine žuvis labai viliojo ji kaip plauke.
The goldfish tempted him very much while swimming.

Nu, katinas pradejo šliaušti labai tyliai užpakaliye auksines žuvies.
So, the cat began to creep very quietly behind the goldfish.

O auksine žuvis mate katina iš vienos akies ir sustojo plaukti.
Oh, the goldfish saw the cat out of corner of one eye and stopped swimming.

Katinas labai tyliai užlipo ant stalo ir pradeo kišti galva i žuvies vaza.
The cat very quietly climbed up on the table and started to stick his head into the fish bowl.

Auksine žuvis žiuri i katina iš vienos akies.
The goldfish looks at the cat from one eye.

Katino galva arteja.
The cat's head comes closer.

Auksines žuvies akis dideja ir žiuri i katino akis.
The goldfish's eye gets bigger and looks into the cat's eyes.

Katinas rošasi užšokti
The cat moves to spring.

Auksine žuvis mato kaip katinas arteja.
The goldfish sees how the cat is nearing.

Staiga!
Suddenly!

Auksine žuvis pule i prieki ir pradejo loti.
The gold fish lunged forward and started to bark

Wrrrrruuuf, Wrrrrruuf, Wrrrrruuf, Wrrrrruuf [taip pat visi šunis supranta ir katinai]
Wrrrrruuuf, Wrrrrruuf, Wrrrrruuf, Wrrrrruuf [understood by all dogs and cats]

Katinas išsigando ir pabego i lauka.
The cat became frightened and ran outside.

Matot, kaip galima susikalbeti nera nenusipratimai.
You see, when there is communication there is no misunderstanding.

Išmokim kalbeti ta pačia kalba.
Lets learn to speak the same language.
